APPROTECH was, Incorporated in 1998, with a clear concept that the new business our group conceives should be beneficial to the Environment, the Society and the Nation.

  • Foreseen that Water & Energy would become major concern for the Nation, in our small Endeavour we introduced Porous Pipe which not only helps in conserving water by improving Water use efficiency but also uses Energy efficiently over other methods of MIS available currently.

  • This was specially applied in Sugarcane, being high water requirement crop to study the efficiency of Water & Energy usage. Advancing from there, APP has graduated to manufacturing Porous Pipes for tropical to sub-Saharan climate. The system is adopted for low pressure low flow technique, thus eliminating continuous use of energy while irrigating and liberating micro-irrigation from the constraints of zoning. The use of APP, thus allows large farm lands to be irrigated at one time from a single water source.

  • Money saved is money earned. Energy used once is not recoverable; hence we strive to develop methods to save maximum energy and water in agriculture (agriculture uses about 50% or more of global sweet water). We thus, work to ensure improved growth and advancement in Energy and Water management in agriculture. Thus cost efficient use of energy and water in agricultural sector not only saves resources, but increases the yield by ensuring healthy growth and outputs. Our research is based on the use of recycled materials thereby promoting conservation.

Background :

Approtech Porous Pipe (APP) was set up in 1998 to evaluate use of Subsoil Porous Pipe in agriculture in India. This was specially applied in sugarcane to study the efficiency of water usage and the yield, as sugarcane is a high water requirement crop. Advancing from there, APP has graduated to manufacturing Porous Pipes for tropical to sub-Saharan climate. The system is adopted for low pressure low flow technique, thus eliminating continuous use of energy while irrigating and liberating micro-irrigation from the constraints of zoning. The use of APP, thus allows large farm lands to be irrigated at one time from a single water source.

Research Products :

APP manufactures Porous Pipes for agriculture, landscape and aeration. It adopts the Sub-Surface Irrigation System - where porous pipe is laid at the proper depth, introducing moisture directly to the plant roots. Thus APP has proved to be the most efficient method to supply moisture and other growth enhancing elements (nutrients, oxygen, etc.) to the plant. It has been used in Sugarcane, Cotton, Vegetables, Castor, Lawns, Flower beds, Floriculture etc. The success of the technology lies in the fact that APP delivers the exact quantity of water to the plants where it actually needs - the surrounding soil supporting the plant roots ensuring the most efficient and convenient use of water and energy.

Approtech research has shown that with correct application of porous pipe one can save up to 70% water over conventional methods and, 30% over non-conventional methods of irrigation. Being a Sub-Surface Irrigation System APP eliminates EVAPORATION LOSS as associated with surface irrigation. The other benefits include ENERGY CONSERVATION as APP works on overhead tank and no pumps are required to ensure the measured quantity of water being delivered. This is since APP makes water available to the soil and then the soil mechanics does the work of absorbing water and maintaining appropriate moisture in the soil for uniform growth of plants and crops.

Technology Research and Development :

APP uses the latest technology of membrane in agriculture, as the Porous Pipe itself is a membrane. Moreover, APP is probably the only company in India with requisite data and experience for adaptability of Porous Pipe in agriculture. APP has got its technology tested and approved from various Government Institutions and Universities. APP is proud to be the only manufacturer of the Porous Pipe that has been tested by Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth Rahuri, a leading agriculture University in India.

Promoters :

APP is promoted by Technocrats Mehul Patel and Utkarsh Patel; who offer their 45 years of collective expertise and experience in the field of farm equipment, agriculture, hardware, research and development. They belong to business families with widespread interests in manufacturing, services and agricultural sectors. They have set up this project, driven by the conscientious zeal to contribute to the society, in terms of recycling materials for applications in agriculture, and to enhance, evolve technology for the conservation of Energy, Water and Fertilizers. In India, every year approximately 5,000 crore rupees (50,000 million rupees) are spent for microirrigation applications and all these systems use continuous energy for water management. Contrary to this, APP uses no energy for water distribution but, at the same time increases water use efficiency.
